Since it was announced at February’s Mobile World Congress event, smartphone fans have been eagerly talking about the latest Samsung Galaxy device, the S5.
As we have seen with other scams, it is often something that you want that delivers the best return for clicks. In this case, Softpedia reported that after the phone was launched in Korea and will be available in the rest of the world next week.
Therefore, scams have appeared on Facebook pages that display posts such as: “DO YOU WANT A FREE Samsung galaxy S5?” or “Samsung Mobile is giving away 2500 free Samsung galaxy S5 as part of a new promotion”.
It reported that the first page already has gathered close to 25,000 likes, while the second has over 13,000 likes. Unsurprisingly these are fake, however Samsung Mobile UK has launched a page offering people the chance to win a smartphone, and even a smartwatch. These make life more complicated, but keen Samsung users are encouraged to look for the verified page to not end up somewhere bad.
