Cloud security-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions provider Alert Logic has announced the opening of its first data centre and security operations centre (SOC) in the EMEA region.

Based in Cardiff, development for the data centre and SOC are underway, while sales, marketing and support teams will be created to engage directly with customers in the UK. Gray Hall, CEO of Alert Logic, said: “With over 300 Alert Logic customers in the UK already, we are excited to announce today that Alert Logic is expanding into Europe with the goal of providing better support for our current and future customers.”

In order to expedite the launch of Alert Logic’s Cardiff headquarters, the Welsh Government has awarded Alert Logic a developmental grant. This will be used in the creation of new jobs and the new data centre, as well as further training programmes.

Councillor Phil Bale, leader of City of Cardiff Council, said: “The arrival of Alert Logic is great news for the United Kingdom, and specifically Cardiff and the Welsh Government’s Enterprise Zone. In addition to providing new jobs in a highly skilled field, their investment demonstrates the importance of offering in-country residence of data and specialised compliance. Their expansion will provide local resources to address the critical security requirements of EMEA businesses.”

With over 300 UK customers, and partnerships with the top cloud and managed hosting providers in the UK, Alert Logic provides support for companies of all sizes and industries. “Alert Logic has been a trusted NaviSite partner for over five years and we are pleased to see their expansion into the UK. Our Enterprise customers expect world-class security and we’re pleased that Alert Logic is opening a local datacentre and managed security operations centre here,” said Sean McAvan, managing director NaviSite Europe, a Time Warner Cable company.

Dominic Monkhouse, UK managing director and chief marketing officer of PEER 1, said: “PEER 1 has enjoyed a successful partnership with Alert Logic for more than five years, during which we have been able to provide our ecommerce customers with Alert Logic’s best-in-class security services. Alert Logic’s UK expansion will allow us to now have security experts that can address European security concerns.”
