AlienVault, a leader in Unified Security Management™ and crowd-sourced threat intelligence, today confirmed that it is backing Security Serious – an awareness campaign to help UK businesses become more knowledgeable about cyber security.
During the week-long campaign, over 50 of the world’s most renowned experts in cyber-crime and security will be offering their time and expertise for free to help the business community become more cyber aware.  As part of this initiative, Javvad Malik, security advocate at AlienVault, will be giving a webinar on “The One-Man SOC: Habits of Highly Effective Security Practitioners.” Developed for the benefit of resource-constrained IT teams, the talk will provide advice on prioritization and efficiency, the importance of threat intelligence sharing, and the best ways to respond when an incident occurs. The AlienVault webinar is taking place on Thursday 29th October at 4pm. It is free to attend and you can register for it here.
Javvad Malik said: “Many security practitioners are faced with a mountain of tasks each day and a small, or sometimes non-existent, team to help complete them. This webinar will help people work around the challenges of limited resources and provide actionable tips to help them manage their environments more effectively. When it comes to security breaches, it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ you’ll be attacked – so it’s extremely important to be prepared.”
Taking place from 26 to 30 October, the Security Serious campaign has attracted the support of a range of large businesses, universities, associations and government bodies including: Unilever, BT, Canon UK, HSBC, GlaxoSmithKline, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, as well as many of the world’s leading IT security vendors.
Yvonne Eskenzi, organiser of Security Serious Week, said: “This week is all about raising awareness and improving people’s attitudes towards security, especially as many of us at some time in our lives will become a victim of cyber-crime. The only way we’ll be able to create a more secure online place to trade is if we all become more security savvy.”
