The IT Security Guru is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the IT Security CISO Debates and Conference with a comprehensive line up of topics from tackling the skills gap to GDPR, how to prevent a data breach from destroying your reputation and the Internet of Things. The UK’s top CISOs and global IT Security Association Leaders will lead these exciting and current debating sessions and earn CPE credits towards your SSCP®/CISSP® and ISACA certifications.
The full conference line up is as follows:
2:00pm – 2:45pm: How to hire the right people in cyber security
The skills shortage is a problem that cannot be ignored, especially in the cyber security industry, with the most recent figures from Indeed suggesting Britain faces the second worst skills shortage in the world. But are we looking for the wrong type of employee? With good communication and organisation skills, could a trained PA or HR professional make a good cyber security employee? This session will look at this gap and encourage attendees to think outside of the IT Security box to consider different perspectives in order to solve the problem. Panellists will discuss innovative ways that they have hired and nurtured talent, where to look to find the right people and how to retain loyalty in a competitive industry.
Panelists: Avtar Sembhi (HSBC), Thom Langford (Publicis Groupe), Simon Hember (Accumin)
2:50pm – 3:35pm: How to stop a data breach from destroying your reputation
Early this year, Gemalto conducted a global survey which concluded that 66% of companies wouldn’t work with companies that had been breached. This could be a huge blow for any company to face this reality; however, if and when the worst happens, you need to be prepared to deal with the fallout. This session will see panellists explore the worst and best case scenarios and how to deal with internal and external company stakeholders, including the press, in order to limit damage and navigate you safely to the other side of a data breach.
Panelists: Neil Stinchcombe (Eskenzi PR), Dan Raywood (Infosecurity Magazine), Amar Singh (CISO), Mark Deem (Cooley LLP)
3:35pm – 4:00pm: BREAK
4:00pm – 4:45pm: 365 day countdown to GDPR: The ultimate checklist to make sure you’re ready
The General Data Protection Regulation will come into force on the 25th of May 2018 and will require organisations to comply with a host of strict data protection rules for processing data of EU residents or face substantial fines as a result of non-compliance. This panel discussion will consider the regulation and what it means in a Brexit context as well as provide the essential guide to make sure your company is GDPR ready.
Panelists: Jonathan Armstrong (Cordery Compliance); others TBD
4:50pm – 5:30pm: Is the Internet of Things overhyped or a force to be reckoned with?
With connected devices from kettles and refrigerators to heating and cooling and fitness tracking devices, Internet of Things (IoT) has certainly taken the consumer world by storm. But what does all of this hype mean for businesses? This discussion will delve into the impact IoT is having on the corporate world and what inadvertent risks organisations might suffer as a result. It will also leave attendees with crucial advice they can take away when dealing with or setting up policies to address IoT in the workplace.
Panelists: Lubna Dajani (Intercede), John Moor (IoTSF), Quentyn Taylor (Canon), Pete Wood (First Base Technologies)
5:30pm – 6:00pm: Food and Drink reception
