The General Data Protection Regulation will come into force on the 25th of May 2018 and will require organisations to comply with a host of strict data protection rules for processing data of EU residents or face substantial fines as a result of non-compliance. This panel discussion will consider the regulation and what it means in a BREXIT context as well as provide the essential guide to make sure your company is GDPR ready.
Panellists for this debate include:
Jonathan Armstrong, Partner, Cordery:  Jonathan is an experienced lawyer with Cordery in the UK with a concentration on compliance and technology. His practice includes advising multinational companies on matters involving risk, compliance and technology across Europe. He has handled legal matters in more than 60 countries involving bribery and corruption, corporate governance, ethics code implementation, reputation, internal investigations, marketing, branding and global privacy policies.
Carolyn Lees, Global IT Director, Permira Advisers LLP:  Carolyn is Director of IT and is responsible for global IT strategy and operations. Her career in IT spans 25 years. Prior to joining Permira, she was director of IT for Kennedys, a London-based international law firm. Before that, she held senior technical managerial roles with Hilton International and Avis Europe.
Steve Williamson, Director, Risk & ITCP Mgmt, GlaxoSmithKline: Steve is a business focused IT Risk and Security Leader with a track record of implementing global security improvement programmes. In his current position he has accountability for driving risk reduction programmes through the implementation of GSK’s Risk and Control framework. Steve collaborates and builds trusting relationships with stakeholders in IT and across the business. Within the industry, he is recognised as a thought leader in the field of Information Risk Management and frequently presents at industry conferences, including ISF Congress, ISACA Europe and InfoSec.
Quentyn Taylor, Director of Information Security, Governance and Risk, Canon Europe: As Head of Security for Canon EMEA, Quentyn has built transformed his IT security team to a division covering the entire information security needs of the company. He has created one of the most diverse and respected teams in the company, striving to drive a more mature attitude to risk. Due to his focus on results, Quentyn was personally selected by the CIO to run Canon’s Tiger Team, focussing on resolving high profile IT issues. As part of his information security role Quentyn now focuses on helping the business use security as a competitive advantage in both product solution design and development.
