Today, the award-winning Nineteen Group, who runs a number of industry events and exhibitions such as the International Cyber Expo, has announced that it has acquired The Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG), a networking and thought leadership forum for the cyber security industry.

Over its twenty years, SASIG has created a strong networking community for cybersecurity professionals. It supports the development of the industry through a series of physical events, webinars and skills festivals. SASIG provides an environment where cyber security practitioners can gather, enabling candid discussions and knowledge exchange on critical cyber security issues.

Globally, the SASIG membership represents thousands of organisations of all sizes, across all sectors, both public and private. These highly engaged members are not only drawn from C-Suite, including prominent CISOs, CTOs, CIOs, decision makers and influencers but importantly also from all levels of the cyber security profession, law enforcement, government and academia.

Peter Jones, CEO of Nineteen Group said, “SASIG is an exciting addition to the Nineteen family. From the moment we met with Martin and his highly experienced team, we were immediately struck by the synergy that SASIG and our own International Cyber Expo would have if partnered together. Their range of year-round events aligned with unrivalled industry reach will help place the new offering at the forefront of the industry. We are delighted to welcome them to the business.”

Rachael Shattock, Group Event Director said, “SASIG holds a distinguished position amongst senior leaders within the cyber security industry. Their events, including Big SASIG, will greatly complement our own cyber portfolio, so we can’t wait to start integrating the two businesses. Watch this space!”

Martin Smith MBE, Founder and Chairman of SASIG said, “For years now I have been searching for a suitable home for SASIG, to ensure its longevity and to increase its reach and influence. With Nineteen Group, I have at last found the perfect partner and the wait was worth it. Nineteen’s ethos, culture and portfolio are completely aligned with SASIG. Together, we really can be greater than our parts. I cannot wait to throw myself wholeheartedly and with renewed energy into this new phase of SASIG’s evolution – be assured, everyone, reports of my impending retirement remain highly exaggerated!”
