Intel has decided to ditch the McAfee brand. At CES 2014, Intel’s CEO Brian Krzanich unveiled the new brand that will be used to identify Intel security services and products: Intel Security.
The shield used for the McAfee logo will remain. The re-branding starts right away, but the company estimates that it will take as much as a year before the switch is made completely.
McAfee, acquired by Intel in 2010 for over $7.6 billion (€5.6 billion), will remain a wholly owned subsidiary. The IT securityfirm’s employees will work alongside Intel security specialists under the Intel Security brand.
The move is not really surprising considering that McAfee’s founder, John McAfee, has pulled all sorts of shenanigans lately.
