Apple has admitted that it is “actively investigating” the violation of several of its iCloud accounts, saying it takes “user privacy very seriously”.
Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris told Recode that it is actively investigating the leak of celebrity nude images, apparently seized from personal iCloud accounts at the weekend.
The company hasn’t yet said anything definitive about how the attacks were carried out, but security researchers at the security firm FireEye examined the evidence that has emerged so far, and said it appears to have been a fairly straightforward attack that could have been prevented with two-factor authentication.
