Dr. Zulfikar Ramzan has been named as chief technology officer of RSA.

Formerly CTO of Elastica and a senior chief scientist at Sourcefire and technical director of Symantec’s security technology and response division, and is a PhD graduate in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In this role, Ramzan is responsible for leading the development of the company’s technology strategy and will focus on bringing to market the innovations that help protect RSA customers from the growing number of advanced threats.

Amit Yoran, RSA president, said: “Zulfikar’s depth of cyber security industry experience is a great addition to RSA – and we’re thrilled to have him on board as we drive the industry forward to better address emergent cyber threats.

“Zulfikar’s vision of where the security industry needs to focus will push us to deliver solutions that address today’s security threats and continue innovating to help organizations better defend themselves tomorrow.”

Ramzan said: “I’m excited to be part of an organisation that is pioneering the future of security, and look forward to helping guide RSA as new threats – and threat platforms – emerge.”
