Cryptzone, a provider of dynamic, context-aware network security software, today announced the newest version of AppGate XDP, the company’s simple-to-deploy Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) solution, for organizations looking to solve today’s most pressing security challenges.
The Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) approach to security evolved from the work done at the US Defense Information Systems Agency, and has been formalized as a specification published by the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). It has recently been popularized by companies such as Google, with their BeyondCorp initiative, as well as several other enterprises active in CSA working groups. In an SDP model, connectivity is provided on a need-to-know basis, dynamically creating an individualized network ‘segment of one’ for each user. Access to applications is granted only after device posture and identity are verified — the full network infrastructure cannot be probed, detected, or traversed. A Software-Defined Perimeter mitigates the most common network-based attacks, both by authorized and unauthorized users.
While SDP solutions provide advanced and dynamic user-centric security, they don’t have to be complex to deploy, or require disruptive infrastructure changes. AppGate XDP provides a way for organizations to easily and incrementally deploy a Software-Defined Perimeter, with customers going into production in as little as a few weeks. For larger enterprises, AppGate XDP provides enterprise-class features such as high availability, linear scalability, and a distributed architecture.
In addition, the latest version of AppGate more tightly links access with identity, supporting extensive integration with identity systems including LDAP, AD, RADIUS, SAML and ADFS. Furthermore, organizations now have flexibility in deployment, and can choose to deploy AppGate XDP as a hardware appliance, software appliance, or virtual appliance running in today’s most popular IaaS environments.
“The Software-Defined Perimeter is a valuable and proven model, but the key for enterprises considering this approach is to find a solution that’s enterprise-ready yet simple to deploy and integrate,” said Kurt Glazemakers, CTO of Cryptzone. “With AppGate XDP 2.1, we are making it dramatically easier to reap the benefits of a Software-Defined Perimeter quickly, and in a manner that doesn’t overload IT and security teams. In addition, by forging a connection between identity systems and access systems, the latest version of AppGate XDP is helping companies reduce a well-known gap in their security posture.”
