The Boeing Co. has traced a recent data breach involving personal information of 36,000 of its workers to an employee who sought help formatting a spreadsheet from their spouse, which resulted in the company losing control of the information for a period of time late last year. According to a report from the Puget Sound Business Journal, Boeing (NYSE: BA) says it has done forensic testing of both the employee’s and the spouse’s computers to confirm any copies of the spreadsheet have been destroyed. A company spokesperson said the information has been contained and that it believes the “risk of harm is very low.”
