Eskenzi PR, the driving force behind Security Serious, has today announced the fourth annual Security Serious Unsung Heroes Awards are open for nominations. The awards are a chance to celebrate the people, not products, on the front lines of battling cyber threats – whether that be in the classroom, in law enforcement or within corporate organisations. The aim of the Unsung Heroes Awards is to help reduce the cybersecurity skills gaps by highlighting the industry as an exciting place to work, which address critical global concerns.

Nominations are open until the 31st of July 2019 and the Unsung Heroes Awards will take place on Wednesday 2nd October.

The Unsung Heroes Awards, started by Eskenzi PR, Smile on Fridays and the IT Security Guru, are backed by major corporations like Canon as well as vendors LMNTRIX, Nozomi Networks, KnowBe4, Edgescan, ISC2 and Mimecast.

The sponsors make it possible for the Unsung Heroes Awards to be free to enter and free to attend, unlike any other industry awards.

“The Unsung Heroes Awards offer a unique opportunity to nominitiate the people, whether they be customers, colleagues, friends or professors, that are battling behind the scenes to save their companies from cyber-attacks and IT related threats,” said Yvonne Eskenzi, Director of Eskenzi PR and founder of Security Serious. “The Unsung Heroes Awards are about unearthing rising stars, encouraging new talent into the industry and thanking all the incredible IT security professionals.”

The categories are now open for nomination until 31st July and include:

Godfather of Security

Cyber Writer

CISO Supremo

Security Avengers (Best team)

“The Unsung Heroes awards demonstrate just how rewarding and exciting a career in cyber security can be, helping to encourage the very best people to pick cyber security careers whilst recognising the valuable contribution to our society and our professional community of those already in the field,” concluded Brian Higgins, security specialist at Comparitech.com and a judge of the awards.
