Satendar Bhatia, the SVP of Embedded Software Sales at Lookout, announced yet another successful year for Lookout App Defence as they continue to break “into new markets, and acquired new customers globally”. Powered by the largest dataset of mobile code in existence, the Lookout Security Cloud provides an assessment of the entire spectrum of mobile risk in the post-perimeter world.

Providing a software development kit, Lookout App Defence, allows apps to become self-defending by leveraging the Lookout Security Cloud, with data from over 170 million devices and 70 apps, providing a comprehensive of individual assessment of customer’s App Risk PostureTM. This helps remediate workflows by providing a comprehensive insight into the landscape of cyberthreat, helping to protect customer facing apps from data breaches and fraudulent transactions.

Following what Bhatia has outlined as “key technology partnerships,” the App Defence ecosystem now boasts impressive strategic go-to-market partnerships with Promon, Buguroo and Trustonic. According to Bhatia, these partnerships with leading solution providers promises to complete the vision of App Defence, making it the “one stop shop offering a complete mobile app protection suite to customers”. This ambitious vision is achievable through partnerships with industry-leading providers of app shielding technology, fraud detection, and critical application protection.

Awan Sikri, Chief Technology Officer at Money Mart, one of the App Defence partners, has stressed the importance of protecting mobile apps, and the sensitive data that they contain, stating that they “have become a very important channel for customer engagement”. Continuing, Sikri highlighted the importance of “securing these apps against cyber threats and malware,” as it “became a top priority for our security and fraud teams”. It is important that busy security teams to have a software that compliments their full schedules. According to Sikri, the mobile app team at Money Mart were “able to integrate and test the App Defence SDK in a few days and now we have real-time visibility into a variety of threats on consumer devices”. Discussing how implementing App Defence has helped Money Mart, Sikri said that it allowed “us to incorporate risk mitigation workflows in our app to protect our customers and their trust in our brand”.

In the near future, Lookout App Defence looks forward to more international projects and collaboration across mobile banking, mobile point of sale and retail apps; striving to achieve their vision of reducing the number of fraudulent transactions emanating from compromised consumer devices. The past year has seen Lookout App Defence forging strategic partnerships with leading solutions providers to ensure comprehensive end-to-end mobile app security for customers, and the future promises much more innovation at the expense of cybercriminals and fraudsters.
