A new initiative has been introduced by Google aimed at protecting the integrity of open source projects. This follows as a result of a number of cases where open source trademarks have been impacted by public cloud providers offering managed services. One such example is Amazon Web Services which copied the open source software from Elastic and created their own Elasticsearch service.
