A new malware family has been linked to the threat group behind Trickbot, a popular information-stealing Trojan.
The Cybereason Nocturnus research team said that since April this year, the backdoor has been used in attacks against organisations across the US and Europe. In particular, organisations in the healthcare, IT, manufacturing, logistics, and travel industries are at risk.
The cybersecurity researchers documented how the first variants of the malware appeared in the wild during April, but then there was a hiatus of almost two months with a new sample emerging during June, together with improved code and fixes.
