Billionaires Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Elon Musk amongst other prominent US figures have been targeted by hackers on Twitter in an apparent Bitcoin scam.

The official accounts of Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Kanye West were also reportedly hacked to request donations in the cryptocurrency.

“Everyone is asking me to give back,” a tweet from Bill Gates’ account read. “You send $1,000, I send you back $2,000.”
