Amazon has fired a number of employees responsible for a recent data leak which resulted in the exposure of customers data, including their email addresses to an unaffiliated third-party, violating the companies policies
Users were alerted of the incident following an email announcement to those who were affected. During the weekend there were reports across Twitter by multiple Amazon customer who had received the email about the data leak, with a number of the customers confused by the alert.
Their main concern was whether the incident had only affected those who were emailed, or whether it had affected other customers too who hadn’t been alerted. Zain Jaffer tweeted, “Did anyone else get a weird email from Amazon about this data breach or was I just targeted solo?” Other customers have been contacting Amazon via Twitter to try and understand what the breach entails, and who it affects.
