The Michigan based bank Flagstar, has contacted its customers informing them of a data breach during which hackers accessed their SSNs. The bank finally admitted that the attack resulted in the loss of customers’ Social Security Numbers, home addresses, full name and phone numbers – a detail that was not publicly disclosed when the data breach was announced two weeks ago. It appears the breach even affected people who are no longer Flagstar customers.
According to pictures shared by multiple customers, Flagstar wrote in a statement: “On March 6, 2021, we determined that one or more of the documents removed from the Accellion platform contained your Social Security Number, First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Address. Out of an abundance of caution we have secured the services of Kroll to provide identity monitoring at no cost to you for two years.”
