Check Point is accelerating its Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) expansion with the launch of new CloudGuard WAF Points of Presence (PoPs) in key strategic markets. The new instance is part of a broader CloudGuard WAF expansion, with additional launches planned in Brazil, Germany, and Taiwan in 2025.

Today, the company announced the activation of a new PoP in the UK, further strengthening its WAAP coverage and enabling faster, region-specific protection for cloud applications and APIs.

This latest phase of growth underscores Check Point’s commitment to delivering industry-leading, AI-powered security with local agility, empowering organisations to scale securely while meeting performance and compliance expectations. With cyberattacks increasingly targeting cloud-native applications, localised WAF infrastructure is now a must-have for businesses seeking resilient, low-latency protection. Company testing confirms CloudGuard WAF’s industry-leading performance, ranking it highest in balanced accuracy among 13 major WAF solutions.

Stuart Green, Cloud Security Architect at Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., said: “As organisations continue migrating to the cloud, the need for secure and localised protection becomes paramount. With this new CloudGuard WAF PoP, businesses in the United Kingdom benefit from faster response times, enhanced regulatory compliance, and industry-leading threat prevention tailored for local needs.”

CloudGuard WAF offers AI-powered, automated protection to defend applications and APIs against Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP) top 10 vulnerabilities, bot attacks, and zero-day threats.

The local PoP in the UK offers several significant advantages. Users can expect reduced latency and improved performance thanks to an in-region WAF instance, alongside enhanced regulatory compliance due to adherence with local data residency requirements. The system also provides AI-driven protection against contemporary application-layer threats. Additionally, it boasts seamless integration with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, and allows for rapid deployment and centralised management across all global assets.
