Black Duck has announced a managed security service provider (MSSP) agreement with Accenture, in a move designed to strengthen the delivery of enterprise-grade application security services worldwide.

Under the agreement, Accenture’s Application Security Practice will standardise on the Black Duck Polaris™ Platform, a cloud-based application security testing (AST) solution built to support modern DevSecOps environments.

The partnership brings together Black Duck’s AI-powered application security technology with Accenture’s global consulting and security services expertise, aiming to provide organisations with a more integrated approach to identifying and mitigating software vulnerabilities.

Standardising on Polaris

The Black Duck Polaris Platform delivers static application security testing (SAST), software composition analysis (SCA), and dynamic application security testing (DAST) through a unified SaaS platform. Designed for speed and scale, the platform uses advanced analytics and automation to provide real-time visibility into application risk across development pipelines.

Jason Schmitt, CEO of Black Duck, said Accenture’s decision to standardise on Polaris reflects growing demand for integrated, scalable application security solutions. “By combining our industry-leading technology with Accenture’s extensive expertise and global reach, we are poised to set new standards in application security and help organisations navigate the complex landscape of secure software development and deployment,” he said.

Enhancing Managed Application Security Services

Through the integration of Polaris into its Application Security Practice, Accenture will deliver an end-to-end managed service aimed at improving visibility, scalability, and operational efficiency for clients.

Key capabilities of the combined offering include:

  • Unified SAST, SCA, and DAST testing from a single SaaS platform

  • Simplified onboarding and integration into CI/CD and test automation workflows

  • Scalable deployment, from single applications to enterprise-wide estates

  • Centralised dashboards offering risk posture visibility across teams and portfolios

  • Access to Accenture security specialists for advisory and optimisation support

Rich Bukowczyk, Managing Director at Accenture Security, said the platform would help clients adopt a more robust and efficient approach to managing application risk. “Security is a top priority for our clients, and the Black Duck Polaris Platform will play a crucial role in helping deliver world-class application security services,” he said.

Resell and Advisory Flexibility

In addition to delivering managed services powered by Polaris, Accenture will also be able to resell Black Duck solutions. This provides flexibility for organisations seeking managed, hybrid, or on-premises deployment models, supported by Accenture’s broader advisory and professional services capabilities.

The agreement reflects increasing demand for integrated application security programmes that align with cloud-native development and DevSecOps practices, as enterprises continue to face mounting software supply chain and vulnerability management challenges.
