Apple and IBM have announced a partnership that will team the two to drive enterprise mobility, with custom applications for iOS.
The move will see IBM sell iOS devices to its corporate clients, and will develop more than 100 industry-specific native apps, built specifically for the iPhone and iPad, according to Mactrast. IBM will also provide iOS-optimised cloud services which will include capabilities such as device management, analytics, mobile integration and security.
Apple will offer a new AppleCare service that will be tailored specifically to enterprise customers needs, while Apple employees were told that the deal will bring together Apple’s “legendary ease-of-use and integrated hardware and software” with IBM’s “unmatched industry depth, enterprise software, and expertise in big data analytics”, in a memo from CEO Tim Cook.
