Windows 10 users will finally be allowed to reset their account passwords from the lock screen, with Microsoft currently testing a feature that would enable password recovery with help from digital assistant Cortana. Available in the latest preview build of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, the new password recovery option is displayed alongside the sign-in options link. As MSPU notes, Microsoft has designed the whole process to be very intuitive, once users click on the option that reads “I forgot my password,” they are provided with a wizard guiding them throughout the entire process, with Cortana asking for password recovery information, including secondary email, phone number, or Microsoft Authenticator verification code. Once these details are provided, the verification process is complete and Microsoft allows you to choose a new account password, finally letting you log in to your Windows 10 device.
