Alert Logic Launches Virtual Forums to Drive Industry Consensus on MDR

As part of an initiative to drive a universal industry standard for managed detection and response (MDR), this week Alert Logic announced the availability of its MDR Manifesto and the launch of a seven-part webcast series.

Despite the cybersecurity industry’s current division on what constitutes MDR, Alert Logic aims to create a standard set of capabilities to define MDR and drive clarity in the industry on the capabilities and value organisations should expect from an MDR solution.

For the webcast series, Alert Logic is teaming with industry partners and thought leaders including Aptum, AVANT, ConvergeOne, INAP, Ingram, Involta and Mission Cloud.

The series will feature what it believes are seven essential tenets of comprehensive MDR. These tenets are core to “The MDR Manifesto” – an examination of the critical capabilities necessary to deliver managed detection and response.

According to Alert Logic themselves, managed detection and response capabilities enable organisations to detect and respond to cyber threats, helping security teams bridge gaps and reduce the likelihood or impact of successful attacks.

This initiative comes at a key time for the industry. According to Gartner, “The marketing around MDR is increasingly confusing for buyers. The MDR label is being co-opted by service providers that demonstrate few, if any, of the characteristics defining the MDR market and are more aligned to the MSS market.” 1

Gartner observed a 35% growth in its client inquiries on the topic of MDR over the last 12 months and Bloor Research recently published an MDR Spotlight paper that discusses in detail the drivers for MDR and why MDR is poised to address today’s cyber threat landscape in a way that MSS and other cybersecurity technologies cannot.
