Today Tony Morbin joined IT Security Guru as editor in chief, signalling a drive to further develop this vital news and information source for the cyber security industry.
Last week Tony left SC Media UK, the world’s longest established cyber security title, where he oversaw the transition from print to digital, as well as more recently engaging in the move from live to digital events during the coronavirus pandemic. Tony has also been publisher at Ten Alps as well as working on security titles at the FT and as an editor in Dubai and Hong Kong. At IT Security Guru Tony aims to bring his knowledge and contacts in the industry to beef up and refocus the existing excellent editorial team, to expand its thought-leadership output, as well as its webinar and digital event portfolio, plus other activities to be announced in due course.
Tony said, “It’s a really exciting opportunity to reinvigorate an established brand in this dynamic but under-served industry. As independent editorial teams are cut elsewhere it’s great to see an organisation with the commitment and confidence to expand its promotion of best practice and thought leadership in a still-growing and dynamically changing sector.”
He added, “I have learnt a lot during my time in cyber, but I don’t claim to be an IT security guru, however I do have the privilege of knowing several who are, and I want to harness that expertise and make it as accessible, relevant and usable as possible so that we are all safer online. IT Security Guru is providing a platform to deliver on that mission, and I am delighted to join them, and invite you to also join us, contributing your expertise via comments, articles and participation in forums, webinars and other events tackling the leading issues faced by cyber security professionals today.”
